Great news finally for Vista users having problems connecting to freelancer servers and have had to uninstall/change your antiviral to get connected.
Its not your anti viral its the handle count on your tdl drivers. Windows 2008 or VISTA sp1 with multiple processors has problematic tdl drivers and there is a hot fix.

The AVG tecks found the solution. I have installed the hot fix and the AVG paid version 8.5 (including updates) has had no problems for over a week. While the hot fix is more complex to install than a normal update I encourage you to persist.
Reading the KB would suggest this hot fix would work for all the antivirals. Please post here if you try it with any others. This connect problem has been with us Vista multiprocessor users for over 2 years and I am sure it has stopped a lot of people playing freelancer.
Dare I say Yippie!!!? One less barrier for people to keep playing Freelancer.
